About our Shopping Cart

Much like shopping carts elsewhere, you pick out items, add them to your cart, and check out to complete a purchase. However, unlike most ecommerce sites, we are selling one of a kind items, and often, multiple people will be trying to buy the same item at the same time. We have made some changes to the normal design of a shopping cart to try to ensure that if you've paid for it, it's yours.

Generally, the best way to shop here is to follow the following guidelines:

1. The sooner you enter checkout, the better your chances of geting what you want. We do combine shipping on multiple orders to the best of our ability. We will refund any shipping charges not used minus 35 cents for each additional order combined into a shipment.

2. Have your payment information in hand before you enter checkout. As long as you complete checkout within 5 minutes of clicking the checkout button, all of the items displayed on the checkout screen will be yours and you will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes.

3. Make sure you have selected the correct shipping settings before pressing the checkout button. At this time, it is not possible to change shipping setting after entering checkout.

4. If you need to adjust your order after you have entered checkout, do it quickly as your items will be up for grabs among our other visitors until you re-enter checkout.

5. Please be considerate of your fellow shoppers and do not click Checkout unless you intend to purchase the items in your cart. We do monitor usage of the 5 minute lock feature, and reserve the right to disable it for anyone who appears to be abusing it.

6. If you've missed out on an item you really wanted, all hope is not lost. First, there's always a chance the other customer will not complete payment on the item and it will return to available status, so keep an eye on it for a few minutes. You may inquire about commisioning a custom item, or, if the item appears to be part of a series, perhaps you will find another similar item listed in the near future. Please do keep in mind that some items use one of kind materials, in which case we will not be able to make another similar item for you.

For those who like to understand exactly what's going on or are have questions which aren't answered above, a detailed description of the cart system is below.

Shopping: As you (and others) shop, items are added to your cart. Simply having an item in your cart does not prevent others from purchasing it. We do this to discourage people from holding onto a large number of items that others may want while they decide. Each time you visit a new page on our site, your shopping cart will be updated and a message displayed if an item you had in your cart has been taken to checkout by another customer.

Checkout: Once you enter checkout and a list of items is displayed, those items are set aside for you for 5 minutes so that you may complete your payment. During this time, other visitors will see the items as sold.

Checkout Completed: If you complete payment within 5 minutes of entering checkout, you should receieve an email confirming your order. If we set aside the items in your order, and the 5 minutes elapses without payment, the items are make available to other customers again. In this case, your items will be marked sold when payment is recieved.

Oversells: In the rare event that you need more than 5 minutes to complete checkout and another customer purchases an item you have paid for, we will use the following rules to determine who recieves the item. If one of the payments was recieved within the alloted 5 minute window, that customer will recieve the item. This ensures that all customers who complete their orders within the 5 minute window recieve their items. In the event that neither customer completed their order within the alloted 5 minutes, the customer whose payment is recieved first will recieve the item. In any case we will email the party not recieving their item to discuss a refund.

Canceling Checkout: Should you decide not to purchse the items you have selected after entering checkout, you may click the Cancel button or the link reading "Return to wyrdingstudios.com". Doing that should return you to our site, and return your cart to the "Shopping" state listed above. If you navigate back to our site by other means, you may see a message displayed below the cart with a list of shopping carts that we are still awaiting payment on. Clicking the cancel link will erase that cart and make it's items available to others. Clicking restore will add the listed items into your active cart.
